My Comment On Carlos Puyol’s Un-Objective Statement

Carlos Puyol.. a great footballer whom I really admire. The way he led barca and spain to win major trophies consecutively is really outstanding. But his recent argument about how arsenal arsenal insist to keep fabregas really pissed me off.. and this is what I have to say to him :

“He (fab) is having to stay at a club where he no longer wants to be for another year. I wonder how intelligent it is keeping a player who doesn’t want to be there.”

First of all, let us analyze fabregas’s position at arsenal :
1. He is the captain who lead the team not by words, but by his play on the field.
2. He is arguably the soul of the “arsenal way” football, most of arsenal’s goals involved fabregas in the process.
3. He just signed a 5 years contract with arsenal last season, and became the highest-paid player in arsenal’s history.

Obviously, he’s the last player Arsene Wenger would want to sell, and it’s really logical for Arsenal to keep such a player, with 4 more years before his contract ends. What’s not logical is barca who want to buy david villa and fabregas at one transfer window after they have spent a huge amount of money to bring ibrahimovic (just to lose eto’o) to camp nou. And their recent financial crisis makes it more illogical! Fabregas desire to go back to barca is understandable, but he can only move to barca for the right price.. for at least 45 pounds in my opinion. umm..make it 50 pounds since he is still 23 years old, with much space for improvement, and is on fire. Big, big fire.

“After seven years of great service, I thought Arsenal could have granted him his dream move. Cesc has given everything to Arsenal to try to win a trophy but they haven’t matched his expectations. I won’t say he is in a prison, as we know how privileged we are as football players. But after how clear Cesc made it that he wanted to be in Barcelona, I thought they would have granted him that.”

Fabregas get’s more than what he has given to Arsenal for the past seven years. In his really early stage, he got the chance to play in the best league in the world and in big stages, more than he could possibly get from any other clubs in the world. Not to mention a really big love from all gooners in the world. He got the best guidance from Wenger, and the opportunity to improve and develop from a locally popular midfielder to a nationally popular killer playmaker. Wenger has invested a lot in him, and he just started to gain fruit for the last 2 years. So Arsenal deserve another 2 years. Or at least one year plus a player who’s available to take his place.

With that said, I truly support Arsenal’s decision to keep Fabregas till the last drop of their blood!!

see how drastic his transformation is. from catalunya alay to london adult
